How to count the number of rows an item appears in, and limit the count to one per row
I am having trouble coming up with a formula to count the number of rows an item/text appears on. The problem is that I am able to count the number of times the text appears in my search range, but I only want to count the number of rows it appears on throughout the entire document. The text that I am searching for in the document will appear several times on a row, and I do not want to count that text more than once for that row, therefore I want to only count the number of rows that it appears on.

I have been using the =COUNTIF() function in combination with an array formula to search for text by individual columns. What I am searching for appears on multiple columns and it seems like there must be some other function that searches for the text by row, and then counts the number of rows it appears on, without counting the same row twice.

Sorry for the repetition, just trying to clarify. I would really appreciate any help, as I have been looking through the list of functions and can't seem to figure out an easy way to do this.

Thank you very much.
